Fire safety, concerning the lives and property of employees and the enterprise, has always been a top priority in business operations. To further ensure production safety and enhance employees' fire safety awareness and self-rescue capabilities, Gemhorn Jewelry conducted its first 2021 fire drill on November 11, with all employees of the Plain Gold Factory participating.

The company organizes annual fire drills for all staff in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, and many employees are well-trained to calmly handle emergencies. Unlike previous years, this year's fire drill was conducted unexpectedly without prior notice to employees, further testing the organizational evacuation capabilities of department leaders and the emergency self-rescue capabilities of employees.

The drill consisted of five main parts: emergency simulation, safe evacuation, emergency assembly, fire safety knowledge training, and live-fire extinguishing practice. It simulated a scenario where equipment in the polishing department failed to undergo pre-start safety checks, leading to a short circuit that ignited surrounding combustibles and caused a fire, resulting in employee injuries.

At 8:30 AM, the factory alarm sounded. The volunteer fire brigade and medical team immediately rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire, rapidly treat injured personnel, and assist in evacuations. Meanwhile, department supervisors and emergency teams actively organized employees to evacuate quickly from the east and west stairwells on the sixth floor to a safe area. The average evacuation time for employees was 2 minutes and 30 seconds, significantly faster than last year.

After assembling, Zhang Lijun, the drill commander, conducted basic fire safety knowledge training, explaining and demonstrating the use of dry powder fire extinguishers in detail. He emphasized that every employee must possess the "four capabilities" of fire safety: 1. The ability to inspect and eliminate fire hazards; 2. The ability to extinguish incipient fires; 3. The ability to organize personnel evacuation; 4. The ability to conduct fire safety publicity and education.

After the speech, new and experienced employees actively participated in the practical session, immediately applying what they learned to practice extinguishing burning gas cylinders with dry powder fire extinguishers.

At the end of the drill, Deputy General Manager Cai Weidong summarized the activity and commented on the employees' practical performance. He specifically corrected several common issues observed during the drill: when extinguishing flames, hold the nozzle of the fire extinguisher to fix the spraying direction; when 扫射 (sweeping) the fire source with the extinguisher, aim at the base of the flames; after extinguishing the burning gas cylinder, remember to close the cylinder valve.

This fire drill effectively tested the emergency self-rescue capabilities of all employees, equipped them with the ability to use fire equipment, and strengthened their fire safety awareness. In the future, Gemhorn will continue to carry out fire drills in factories such as the K Gold Factory and Fifth Factory.
